Biography

Kathleen Schoen is an Arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association (Employment Panel), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and the Kentucky Labor Cabinet. Ms. Schoen serves as Vice-Chair for the Louisville Bar Association's Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) section.

Ms. Schoen's practice areas include labor & employment law, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, business/commercial litigation, general civil litigation, and administrative law, including disability claims.

Ms. Schoen has experience litigating a wide range of state and federal employment laws, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Kentucky Civil Rights Act, Wage and Hour Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, WARN Act and reductions in force, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA). Ms. Schoen is experienced in wrongful termination, employment discrimination and harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, collective bargaining agreements, breach of fiduciary duty, and non-compete matters. Ms. Schoen has represented the interests of both the employee and the employer at various times, resulting in a balanced perspective.

Ms. Schoen is experienced in litigating various business matters, including partnership disputes, breach of operating agreement, business dissolution, unfair competition, fraud, unjust enrichment, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference with contract, and various other business torts.

Ms. Schoen has attained both the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification and the Society for Human Resource Management - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification.
